Can I Brag for a Moment....

It's Brandon's 30th birthday today and I just wanted to take a moment to brag about him. The other day I had to write a letter of recommendation on how he leads our family so I thought I would share it with all of you because I am so proud to be married to him. So here it is...

I am very blessed to be married to Brandon! He shows Godly leadership in the way that he loves us, desires all of us to grow closer to God, and through helping us understand decisions that are made as a family. Brandon loves toward me and his family is the best example of true love, Jesus’ love, that I have ever experienced. He is caring, respectful, kind, trustworthy, and selfless. He is not too proud to say I'm sorry and ask for forgiveness when he has done something wrong....even if it is something minute that I or the kids would probably forget about, he still apologizes. The way that Brandon is learning to discipline the children is in love and not out of anger. He also shows his love by diligently pursuing me and serving us. He serves us by working hard to provide for our family. At home he serves me with a joyful heart every day by helping around the house, with the children, and with other responsibilities such as finances. I believe people who come into our home see a different kind of love between the two of us because Brandon has a servant’s heart for God and his family.

He not only desires all of us to grow closer to God but also challenges us and will keep us accountable. We read scripture together as a couple and separately, do a devotion together and read the Bible with the kids on a daily basis. He is able to help me understand Biblical concepts and is always eager to help me learn more about God. He continues to help the children understand who God is and how he sent Jesus to be our hero. I also appreciate the way he is willing to confront me in a gentle way when the fruits of the spirit are not as evident at a particular moment as they should be. Brandon is an amazing example of Godly living for me and the kids to see and want to follow. Dan often says to me, " Daddy is a good daddy." When I ask him why he always replies, "Because daddy loves Jesus." I would agree with Dan, he is wonderful because he loves Jesus more than anything and wants us to as well!

We have had to make numerous life changing decisions in the past six years. Through each decision Brandon has helped lead us in praying and seeking God's will. In some decisions it may have taken me longer to "jump on board" but he was always there for me. We both want to be used by God to bring glory to His name. I believe Brandon does a wonderful job of reminding our family that this is our goal. I proud to say that my husband is the real deal....he not only speaks truth but he lives it out daily. This doesn't mean he is perfect but he is constantly pursuing righteousness and it is evident in many ways including the Godly way he leads our family.

So very thankful to celebrate his 30th birthday with him.... I can't wait to spend the next thirty birthdays (or a lot more) with him!
